I have Resolved

This week, Pastor Mike will be addressing another issue that requires our attention, especially when we consider lifestyle changes and New Year's Resolutions. This issue is an issue of the Blood of Jesus Christ and the Covenant relationship, with you in mind. Things have changed over the many years since Jesus walked the earth, so, do we still view this the same way? If so, how, and what does it mean? See you Sunday!

I have Resolved

It is much easier to envision good resolutions than to make them. Most people have a good understanding of the right thing to do. The problem isn't with knowing what the right thing to do is, but in deciding to do it.

More Than with . . ."He is Great!"

December 27, 2009

Encyclopedia Britannica uses 20,000 words to tell about Jesus Christ.  The greatest encyclopedia in the world never doubts that Jesus exists.  In fact, the encyclopedia has more to say concerning Jesus than it does for Aristotle, Alexander the Great, Napoleon or Julius Caesar.  Why?  Because of what it says in Luke 1:32. "He will be great."
Socrates taught his philosophy for 40 years; Plato for 50 years; Aristotle for 40 years.  Yet Jesus, who taught only 3 years, has influenced the world more than the combined teaching of all these great philosophers. What makes Jesus the Christ great, and how should that appeal to and affect us today?

More Than " The miracle of conversion, or being saved" Part II

December 20, 2009

This Sunday, Pastor Mike continues the series More Than with "The Miracle of Conversion, or Being Saved" - Part 2. As we portrayed the spiritual journey by way of 4 stages of progress, it is extremely important that we realize a couple of significant and foundational steps in that progression. We must keep in mind that it is not a ladder, but an ongoing journey that we must progress through--intentionally and on purpose--being consciously aware of our day-to-day relationship with God. Due to the response this past Sunday, Pastor Mike will allow for some Q & A's pertaining to the message in hopes of arriving at greater clarity. Come join us..and let's Journey Together!

More Than Part I

December 13, 2009

???The miracle of conversion, or being ???saved???, or ???beginning your committed journey with Jesus Christ???, is not that our sins can be forgiven, but that they can become undesirable to us. We can not only quit committing our sins, we can also quit liking them. The desire of being ???saved??? is the beginning of salvation, just as faith in Christ is the end of it. Faith without desire results in dry intellect or routine liturgy.???  Part 3 of More Than, A Miracle Named Desire.
We are extremely grateful for Steph Garey, missionary through Global Partners to New Zealand, and her visit with us this past weekend. Steph would also like give you a heart-felt ???thank you??? to everyone for being so kind and gracious for the ongoing prayer and financial support given. If you were unable to respond this past weekend, and would like to, please contact Pastor Mike for more information. We have prayer-info cards available as a reminder to pray for Steph.

November 29, 2009

Sunday Pastor Mike will start a new message series called More than.
As we experience, yet, another Christmas Season, we have all moved from Thanksgiving in which we give thanks for what we have, to a holiday in which we evaluate what we do not have, in hopes to attain more. Well, how about your relationship with Jesus? For many, once that relationship starts, we stop, but there is so much more.

What's In It for Me?

Part 3 "Gods Love and Ours"
Ambition, Strength and strategy - these characteristics are exhibited in Gods plan of salvation that is worked out in the entrance of Jesus to history. Matthew focuses our attention on the fact that God is in control, even as the events surrounding His work unfold in unexpected ways. Too early for a Christmas message? Everyday is like Christmas when Christ is in the center of it. What's in it for me?

Part 2 "Inner, Outer"
As we take a look at Matthew 6:1-18 we recall that personal transformation begins in the inner person through the work of the Spirit of God, which produces change on the outside as we discipline ourselves to be more Christlike. We must develop an inside-out mentality so that Spirit-produced growth of the inner person is in harmony with outward obedience. I look forward to seeing you Sunday as I share more.

Our Quest for Greatness Part 1

We will honor our Veterans this Sunday, for the great work, commitment and sacrifice for each of us and our ability to live and worship in a free country. On behalf of Northcrest Community Church, we truly pray for Gods Blessing for each individual and family serving in The United States of America.

The message Sunday:  In our quest for greatness, we will venture into the idea Jesus gives that contradicts our perception of attaining greatness. Is it what you think? And how do we get there? Are we willing to implement change that is contradictive to our natural way of thinking?
